Our Philosophy

At Sonatina Music Studio, we believe that every person can learn and enjoy music. We aim to create a welcoming, supportive environment where students can foster their creativity, form connections, and explore self-expression through music!

About Your Instructor

In addition to having over 20 years of piano teaching experience across all ages and levels,  Jen has  been a General Music Teacher and Choral Director since 2002. She holds an AS in Music, a Bachelor's in Piano Pedagogy, a Master's in Music Education, and Music Together Director's Certification. She tries to help foster a love of music while emphasizing musicality, creativity, and  freedom of expression.

Benefits of Piano Lessons and Music Together®

Learning music offers numerous benefits: it fosters discipline and patience while enhancing hand-eye coordination and motor skills. It boosts cognitive abilities and memory while encouraging creativity and self-expression.

As a lifelong skill, it brings joy in solo and shared experiences while increasing confidence and self-esteem!

Music Together® for Mixed Ages.

Classes now offered at 2 locations: Monday class is full, but Wednesday and Thursday classes still have openings!

Jonesville United Methodist Church in Clifton Park on Mondays from 5-5:45 PM starting on 4/7 and Wednesday 10-10:45 AM starting on 4/9

Schenectady Jewish Community Center on Thursdays from 11:15 AM to 12 PM starting on April 17th. Class will run contingent on enrollment.

Music Together® was the first early childhood music program to offer music classes for mixed ages. Child development researchers have known for a long time that the natural, family-style environment of mixed-age classes are the best way for young children to learn. In our experience, it works! In Mixed-Age classes, the older children love to show what they know, and the younger ones love to watch and imitate. The relaxed, no-pressure environment lets all kids learn at their own pace. Music Together is music and movement for babies, toddlers, preschoolers. . . and the grownups who love them®
