Everyone gets off track. We binge eat one night. We miss days at the gym. What matters is how we react. Do we assume the week/day is shot and do what we want? Or do we get right back on track?
Your reaction to setbacks in health and fitness can mean the difference between moving forward and staying still.
I have to admit, I was guilty of this. Eating out? I may as well have dessert, too. Too busy at work to get in my workout? I’ll start over again Monday. Where did it get me? Nowhere. I was standing still. I wasn’t gaining weight, but I certainly wasn’t losing it. I wasn’t getting any stronger in the gym.
The second I changed my mindset when I went off plan was the second I started consistently moving forward. When I could accept a meal of pizza and wine meant meant just one meal and not a weekend free for all, I started losing weight. When I could accept that missed gym sessions happen and got right back on track the next day, I started getting stronger.
Realize that one poor meal choice or one missed workout isn’t going to matter much in the grand of schemes. However, a few days of poor meal choices, or skipping the gym consistently will.
